3Dlamps is my first company, which I brought to life back in 2018.
The idea came to me when I realised that 3D-printing was used in stupid ways, insulting to the opportunities it offers.
My colleagues either were either using 3d-printed objects as a rough basis, which would then be sanded until it looked nothing like a 3d-print, or to make simple, ugly components because they were to lazy for to produce otherwise.
Instead, I envisioned that 3D printers could also be used to make beautiful products, with the inherent layered finish as an aesthetic of its own.
People would just have to get used to the idea of something not necessarily being perfectly smooth. This thinking allowed for opening up an entirely new world of opportunities, that would be neigh impossible to make using other production methods. But where to start?
As a present for my mother, who loves New York, I made my first 3D-printed lampshade in the form of the Empire State Building. Ever since I shared my work online, I have been getting increasing attention and hence making different kind of building-shaped lampshades.
3DLamps was born.

My first commercial assignment was the development of 9 lampshades in the form of important architecture from Washington for a wedding in DC. I made the White House, the Washington Monument, the Library of Congress and many more. Each of these lamps was used as headpieces on one of the weddings’ tables.
The income collected from this project allowed me to buy my first 3D printer, which I since then have been using to test and develop my newer models.
