Case Description
I designed and developed the iPhone app Newday to replace static to-do lists with a living system that adapts to your time, energy, and goals. It’s a step toward technology that truly supports how we want to live, not just what we need to do.
About the process
First, a Design Vision was formulated on what the app should accomplish:
“Give people back control over their time.
It’s easy to get by without a plan. Making a plan and sticking to it requires continuous effort. We should make it simple to make a SMART plan for your life, continuously nudge you into making time for and undertaking actions necessary to maintain & update the plan. It should be an all-encompassing LifeOS helping with school, learning, work, sports, eating and all other things that require effort to stay on the right path.“
Market Analysis
Competitor apps were studied on their performance…
… and an overview of the market landscape was made. The landscape in 2021 was clearly leaving open space for a Mobile-first AI Calendar Management app.
Outline of NewDay’s Value Proposition in comparison to competition
Wireframing
Requirements per function were written.
Wireframes were drawn to explore the first concepts
And then further transformed into user journeys – like the draft onboarding experience that you see here.
These wireframes were then imported into Figma to do interaction- and user testing.
UI Design
A moodboard for the app design was made.
Code Development
The final design was build into a fully functional prototype in SwiftUI in xCode for iPhones.

Newday is a smart daily planner that turns your task lists into a realistic yet flexible schedule based on timeblocks, deadlines, and priorities.
It helps you find time for what task to do next, whilst respecting the appointments already in your calendar.
By keeping the focus on the task at hand, it helps you stay focused, yet flexible — making it easy to adapt your day without losing sight of what matters.
Integrated Pomodoro timer helps you stay focused and sharp.
Different tasks can be sorted under different categories – and the categories can be tied to timeblocks.
This way, NewDay knows which tasks to suggest when, so that you always get relevant suggestions.

About my contribution
I fully designed and developed the UI and code architecture myself, from scratch. It required me to learn how to work with XCode and the SwiftUI Coding language.
I massively enjoyed working on this project, and still have the intention to launch this app in the near future. Currently, I am testing the alpha version of the app with actual users.
