Case Description
I designed and developed the branding, layout and website architecture of this online music lesson platform, based on a design brief and close collaboration with the client.
Design Approach
First, I had an official intake conversation with the client on the envisioned end-product.
Based on this kick-off, a User Journey was drafted. This User Journey was guiding in the development of the website.
With the user journey clarified, I helped the client decide on which website building platform was the best fit for their product.

Moodboard
After the intake I visualised three different styles that could be applied in the design of the website. This gave the client the possibility to confirm the desired styling.
Style 1
Rough Rock. Simple shapes, sharp angles. Dark and warm colors.

Style 2
Classical Class. Simple shapes, Rounded Corners & dark and warm colors.

Style 3
Elegant Minimalism. Monochromatic, small strategic details.

Wireframing the layout
The client chose to go for the Classical Class style. With the user experience and desired branding style in mind, I started designing a rough layout for the website.
I brainstormed on what content should go where on the main page, and in what order, to make sure that visitors would easily be able to understand the Value Proposition.

I also redesigned the MakeSomeMusic logo to make it align it with the new branding:

Building the website
After positive reactions from the client, I started building the website. We used Wix.com to build the site. Wix already has a payment platform and offered other tools like a subscription tool and webshop builder as well.
Next to advanced website building tools that allowed me to create an inspiring design, this platform also provided a low-code environment. My client appreciated being able to add content after releasing the website, without me being involved afterwards all the time.
Main Page
After positive reactions from the client, I started building the website. We used Wix.com to build the site. Wix already has a payment platform and offered other tools like a subscription tool and webshop builder as well.
Next to advanced website building tools that allowed me to create an inspiring design, this platform also provided a low-code environment. My client appreciated being able to add content after releasing the website, without me being involved afterwards all the time.

We inserted a big Hero and an introduction video to introduce the client to the visitors and clearly explain the value proposition of the website.

To entice visitors to visit the website on a weekly basis, I created an automatically refreshing free offer. These two cards present the latest released lessons for free.

The footer was designed to provide a calm overview of all different offerings that MakeSomeMusic.nl has to offer.

Tutorial pages
The tutorial pages are designed to offer an intuitive interface where new visitors can see the offering of MakeSomeMusic.nl, and even watch some free trial tutorials to get started with playing guitar.

Song Tutorial page
Next to structured lessons, the client also wanted to offer song specific tutorials. For this, a separate page with a different color scheme was created, to ensure to make it distinct from the other tutorial pages.
Here, the newest song is always available for free, by means to create an incentive for visitors to frequently come back to the website.

About my approach
I designed this website by involving the client from the start and in all key decisions.
I made sure to offer multiple approaches whenever making these decisions, to allow the client to also explore the solution space mentally before agreeing on a strategic direction.
